Bar & Café in Lucerne Old Town
THE ARTISTIC LIBRARY
What it is
The Artistic Library is the bar and café at Capsule Hotel Lucerne Old Town, at Zürichstrasse 33. Open for coffee in the morning, study sessions in the afternoon, and drinks in the evening.
Students and freelancers come with laptops. Locals drop by for pizza. Sometimes there’s a comedy club. Sometimes it’s karaoke. Sometimes it’s just a quiet table and a good espresso.
You don’t need to be a hotel guest to come in. The Artistic Library is open to everyone.

The menu
Breakfast starts early. A proper buffet in the morning, coffee from Bean in Progress in Basel, and smaller options if you just need a croissant and an espresso to get going.
During the day, it’s simple food that works. Grilled cheese, pizza, flammkuchen, soup: the kind of plates you can eat between conversations or emails.
In the evening, the bar takes over. We pour Kitchen Brew and Schluck Specht, keep the wine mostly Swiss, and mix the classics without reinventing them.

WHAT’S ON SOON
Don't say we didn't invite you.
The Artistic Library hosts book clubs, karaoke nights, beer pong tournaments, and small gatherings throughout the year. Something’s always coming up.
Free Comedy Night with Ahmet Bilge
Ahmet Bilge brings his stand-up to the Artistic Library for one night. Originally from the U.S. and shaped by years living across different cultures, he found his comedic voice in Switzerland, and his sharp, affectionate takes on Swiss life have made him a crowd favourite ever since. Expect clever jokes, quick crowd work and the kind of humour that lands whether you’re local or just passing through.
Fri 1 May
Grilled Cheese & Beers
On Sunday evenings, pull up a chair at the big table and let someone else do the cooking. Choose your side: salad, soup or chips. End on a sweet note with a Nutella banana straight off the grill. Meet people from all over the world, or just enjoy the evening with the ones you came with. Either way, Sunday nights just got better.
Every Sunday 18:00–20:00

The people behind what we serve
Small businesses, big flavours.
We don’t make everything ourselves. We work with people who are good at what they do.
BEAN IN PROGRESS
BASEL
Our coffee comes from Bean in Progress, a specialty roaster in Basel.
They roast a custom blend for The Artistic Library. It’s the coffee we serve in the morning and the one that keeps people going through long days.
Basel roasted. Lucerne poured.
KITCHEN BREW
Allschwil
Kitchen Brew is our craft beer partner across Switzerland.
Brewed near Basel, their beers are balanced, easy to drink and well made. You’ll find their Blonde, IPA and Wheat Ale on our menu.
It’s the beer we pour the most.
Schluck Specht
Luzern
For something brewed even closer, we serve Schluck Specht.
A small microbrewery based in Luzern. Small batches, brewed in the same city you’re drinking it in.
Jumi Cheese
Emmental
Our cheese comes from Jumi in the Emmental region.
They work with milk from nearby farms and produce raw milk cheeses with real character. You’ll find it on our aperitivo plates and breakfast table.
Simple product done well.
