Lucerne Old Town was imagined like the beginning of a book.
When Peter, our co-founder, was thinking about what Copenhagen should feel like, he kept coming back to one idea: that hygge isn’t a style, it’s a feeling, and that feeling has a lot to do with fabric.
One evening over dinner, his neighbour Kristin Altman mentioned she had recently discovered a passion for sewing. That was enough. The two of them spent hours together at the table, cutting and sewing the fabric canvases that now hang in every capsule and corner of the hotel.
The pieces are made from secondhand materials, which felt right for a neighbourhood with one of the strongest secondhand cultures in Europe. Nothing was bought new. Everything has a previous life.
It’s the reason the hotel feels the way it does before you’ve quite figured out why.
