Capsule Insights Podcast
Hospitality conversations that end with something you can use.
Capsule
Conversations
One question. One takeaway. Every time.
Capsule Insights is a podcast for hostel and hospitality professionals. One question per episode, guests who come prepared, and a format designed to end with a concrete takeaway every time.
The podcast grew out of our in-person events: the conversations in the room were too good to keep in the room.

How every
episode works
Every episode starts with one specific question the industry is genuinely wrestling with. Guests come with three concrete points. We discuss them, test them, and push back when the answer gets vague. Episodes run 15 to 30 minutes depending on the format, and they end with something actionable every time.
Solo Take
One host, one question, one opinion. No guest needed when the point just needs making.
15 mins
Guest Interviews
One speaker, three prepared points. We discuss, we test, we don’t let vague answers slide.
30 mins
Panel
Multiple perspectives on the same question. The interesting part is usually when they don’t agree.
30 mins
The questions we're asking
BUSINESS
- How do you price a bed without a race to the bottom?
- What’s the actual ROI of investing in common spaces nobody asked for on the booking form?
- What nobody tells you about scaling from one hotel to five.
People
- How do you build a team culture across properties when you can't be in three places at once?
- How do you retain good people in an industry with a reputation for burning through them?
Operation
- At what point does self check-in stop being a feature and start being an excuse not to hire people?
- What do your lowest-rated reviews actually have in common, and what are you doing about it?
Impact
- When does a hostel become a community, and can you engineer it or does it just happen?
- What does responsible travel actually look like for a small hospitality group?

Where it started
Before the podcast, there were the events.
Before the podcast there were the events: hospitality professionals in a room talking about the things that actually matter. The conversations were good enough that we wanted the rest of the industry to hear them. Here’s what we covered so far.

A few things people said that stuck
"Your neighborhood stays all year long. They are your first clients. Serve your local neighborhood — they will be the ones who come back again and again, every week."
Filippo Altea — General Manager, T5 Social Club Bucharest
"It is not partying, it's socialising. There's a marked difference. And that need for connection is more important than ever."
"I always say my staff is my first client. If they feel like they are part of this community, they will go all in. Once you create a safe space for them — not only to work, but to express themselves — they will stick around."
Your hosts
Two hospitality Pros who are not here to sugar coat the real and tough stuff.
They’ve hosted panels, sat on panels, and watched enough bad panels to know exactly what they’re not doing. Sharp, curious, sassy when needed, and genuinely good at getting people to say the things they almost didn’t.
Marketing Manager, Capsule Hotel
Mathilde is the person behind how Capsule Hotel looks and sounds. She thinks about where the brand is going before most people have realised they should be thinking about it.
On the podcast she brings the strategic angle: the question behind the question, the detail everyone else glossed over, and a dry sense of humour that makes the whole thing more enjoyable than it has any right to be.

Sustainability Lead, Capsule Hotel
Valentina has spent three years making hospitality’s most overcomplicated questions simple enough to act on. She has zero tolerance for jargon, a genuine belief that the hostel industry is more serious than people give it credit for, and a talent for getting to the point.
On the podcast, she’s the one who says “okay but what does that actually mean in practice?” and doesn’t stop until she gets a real answer.
